‘Spot light on a Song’
A wet and soggy Friday here in the PNW today. In the three years I’ve lived in Seattle, I’m fairly certain this is the rainiest I’ve seen yet. And with man vs. mother nature…..she always wins. Looking forward to heading away to sunshine soon.
Even with the rain, it still feels like holiday time. And I love me some Christmas music! I get happy once Thanksgiving passes and certain radio stations play non-stop Christmas music all day, everyday! I go on autopilot. And know most songs and their every lyric. Oldies and newbies. Remember that Wham song?! “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, the very next day, you gave it away…” Whoa. That was a doozy. And yes….a major hit that will play– every year, til the day I die.
Today I ‘Spot light’ my favorite Holiday song. “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”. A song written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, released in 1971 as a single with the Harlem Community Choir. The lyrics are set to the traditional English ballad “Skewball”. A Christmas standard; also a protest song against the Vietnam War. It makes my heart melt. Everytime.
So happy everything music fans. No matter what you believe in or practice. No matter– as long as it brings you peace and love. Isn’t that all you need?
Strum a little….
