‘Spot light on a Song’

Friday the 13th– my lucky day in fact. The sun is shining and we are slowly melting from the deep freeze we’ve been hit with.  My blood has thinned significantly since moving to this corner of the world.  I’m slowly waking up after seeing an epic show with Fruit Bats last night; the ‘Spot light’ artist two weeks ago. Musicianship at its finest. What a treat and perfect way to start off a new year of music.

Today’s ‘Spot light’ artist is another hidden gem to most.  Hamilton Leithauser, former lead vocalist of the American indie rock band The Walkmen, an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

After the band took hiatus, Leithauser embarked upon a solo career, releasing his debut studio album, Black Hours, in 2014.

In 2016, Leithauser collaborated with former Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij on the studio album, I Had a Dream That You Were MineReleased to widespread critical acclaim, I think you’ll agree if you give it a listen.  I recall this song in particular made it into an iPhone 7 commercial.  When I heard it playing on KEXP, it brought chills to my bones.  No need for winter when you have music like this.

Strum a little….
