‘Spot light on a Song’
Happy Friday! They come so fast and furious don’t they? It’s been a very busy week making music added to the multiple other jobs I do on a daily basis. Life is busy and this weekend I will be pre-celebrating my annual circle around the Sun! I feel each year I get wiser, I really appreciate the life I’ve been blessed with and those important to me who help fulfill it. Making music and writing about it every week has significant meaning in my life. If you follow my blog, or my music in any way, I feel grateful. That is a gift.
So birthday’s deserve birthday songs and today I dug out a great one. I first heard North Carolina, The Avett Brothers roughly ten years ago. Founded and led by brothers, Scott Avett (banjo) and Seth Avett (guitar), these two are literally music to your ears. The Avett Brothers successfully combine all of my favorite genre’s: bluegrass, country, pop, folk, rock and roll, indie rock, honky tonk, and ragtime. Their sound is a “heavy sadness of Townes Van Zandt, the light pop concision of Buddy Holly, the tuneful jangle of the Beatles, the raw energy of the Ramones.” I couldn’t have come up with a more perfect description than that.
So birthday or not, take this for a spin and feel its’ relevance.
Strum a little….
