‘Spot light on a Song’

Happy New Year Music fans! I hope that 2015 is full of sweet sounds in surround. I look forward to sharing more musical treats with you to help make 2015 a good one in the music department.

I’m going to start out the New Year on a high note. I was lucky to see them this week in fact, right here at my favorite venue in little ole’ Seattle. The Jayhawks!

The Jayhawks are an American alternative country and country rock band that emerged from the Twin Cities music scene during the mid-1980s. Their country rock sound was influential on many bands who played the Twin Cities circuit like Uncle Tupelo. A scene that I so desperately wished I had been a part of.

Dynamic vocal perfection Gary Louris and MarK Olson will bring chills down your spine. Right up there with CSNY if you ask me. Of course they have been one of those bands that break up, get back together, break up, get back together…… At least they keep the door open.

Most of the 1997 touring lineup hit the road in 2014 concentrating on material from the 1997-2004 era of the band that has largely gone unplayed in concert for over a decade. And Hallelujah to that because their music should never be put on a shelf. And can be re-celebrated from now ’til the end of time.

Strum a little….
