‘Spot light on a Song’
Waking up in the the land of horses and baseball bats, my home town, Louisville! Making my annual pilgrimage and loving every minute. And even though I left at the ripe old age of 18, I will always consider it home.
Today’s ‘spot light’ artist is a gem. One of the unparalleled musicians I’ve ever heard, seen and known actually. Not well; but I did grow up with him and his younger brother. And I’ve seen him play live in the Chicago Lincoln Hall Theatre.
Will Oldham, aka “Bonnie Prince Billy” is bar none, one of Louisville’s finest. That is an understatement actually. He is brilliant, articulate, expressive, insightful, eccentric, very private, and driven by emotion. His performances are hair-raising chillers. And his voice is exceptional. Have I given you a reason not to check him out? I’m proud to consider myself from the same roots as Will…..even if it’s just a tiny branch.
This performance was here in Seattle at KEXP’s live studio performances. Enjoy.
Strum a little….
