‘Spot light on a Song’
Happy Friday and summer music fans! Bringing you a bit of history today. And although I’m no Civil War buff (other than the duo Civil Wars which I’m still mourning their break up!), I must say, the live history lesson I just experienced really blew my mind.
Gettysburg: home to America’s most brutal battle to ever occur on homeland soil– AND to that little 272 word address by old honest Abe himself. Wow. A wonderful experience and well worth the trip.
So I did a little research and no better ‘Spot light’ to higlight than The Brandos. A little blast from the past.
The Brandos are an American rock band formed in New York in 1985. The core members are vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Dave Kincaid and bassist and vocalist Ernie Mendillo. The passion, grit and power of The Brandos has origins in the Seattle scene of the early eighties with the band The Allie’s.
After Dave moved to New York in 1986 joining a new band, The Brandos achieved commercial success in the United States in 1987 with the release of their first album, Honor Among Thieves and the single “Gettysburg”. They have also established a strong fan base in Europe, where they have done promotion and extensive touring since the late 1980s. They have occasionally made it high on the record charts in countries such as the Netherlands.
The Brandos’ sound, as well as Kincaid’s voice, made The Brandos a unique listening experience. Enjoy!
Strum a little….
