‘Spot light on a Song’

BABY HOLD ON! That’s all I have to say about today’s ‘spot light’ artist. What a crazy week it’s been music fans and this song has been in my head from the start. This guy is music to my soul. And when you listen to him you will think I’ve posted the wrong video, because you won’t be able to differentiate whether it’s Ray Charles or Van Morrison! Just keep listening.

James Hunter, a British rhythm and blues musician and soul singer began his long career with a band called “Howlin’ Wilf and the Vee-Jays,” who released their first album in 1986 entitled Cry Wilf. Spending the most of the 90’s playing small clubs in London, Hunter’s soulful style drew the attention of Van Morrison, (yes…..that’s what I wrote!) who appeared on Hunter’s first album released on Ace, Believe What I Say, in 1996. Hunter’s relationship with Morrison led to a tour with him.

Hunter’s first solo release in the United States, his 2006 breakthrough album People Gonna Talk, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album at the 49th Grammy Awards ceremony.

Music fans….he will knock your socks off and keep you wanting more. A dear friend introduced him to me last year and I listen to him all of the time. Especially when I’m cookin’. I’m so happy that today is his day to shine. The video might be the coolest one I’ve seen yet. A perfect pairing. I’m full. So don’t delay, and click away— BABY HOLD ON!

Strum a little….
