‘Spot light on a Song’

A beautiful morning to rise to.  Still on a high from the Wilco show I saw a few weeks ago.  The final two songs played were my very favorites!  When does that ever happen?  In all the excitement of the show, I lost a week to share the other special show I saw the same week so I must rewind.

Dawes, one of my very favorite bands, made a visit to Seattle to promote their fifth record releasing today.  They like to promote it at the greatest record store in the country, Easy Street.  I wouldn’t miss a visit.  Dawes is important to me because their song ‘Rest Easy’, a bonus track from their second album, was the only song I covered and made part of my first album.  You can listen to it here:

Dawes is composed of brothers Taylor (guitars and vocals) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums). Dawes has been described as having a Laurel Canyon sound derived from artists such as Crosby, Stills, and NashJoni Mitchell, and Neil Young.

Dawes is Taylor’s middle name, also his grandfather’s first name.  Adds a special touch I think.

This live clip was taken from their 2014 visit to W. Seattle’s greatest record store.  And I was there one foot away to capture it.  Enjoy!

Strum a little….
